West Bengal: Terrible collapse in the tunnel of the railway under construction from Sebak to Rangpo. Two workers died in the incident. 5 more seriously injured. Sources said that most of the workers are residents of Bihar.
Big accident due to heavy rain
According to local administration sources, the landslide was due to continuous rain for several days. The accident happened around 10:30 pm on Thursday. The accident took place at Bhalukhola, about 25 km from Kalimpong. Kalimpong police said the seven workers were rescued from the scene. Two of them have died. The deceased were identified as Naresh Soren and Salkhu. 5 more injured. Three of the injured were admitted to Kalimpong District Hospital. The other two were admitted to North Bengal Medical College Hospital.
The construction work of the railway from Sebak to Rangpo has been going on for several years. So the total cost is 4000 crore rupees. About 6 per cent of the 44.98 km long railway line falls into the tunnel.
