Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) President Duarte Pacheco visited India

On March 15, 2021, Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) President Duarte Pacheco met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in New Delhi and witnessed the proceedings of the Rajya Sabha. He is on a week-long visit to India at the invitation of the Indian Parliament.

Center approved assistance of Rs 5 lakh each in cases of death of journalists due to COVID

On March 15, 2021, the government said that it has approved financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh each in respect of cases of death of journalists due to Kovid-19. In a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha, Union Information and Broadcasting Minister Prakash Javadekar said that his ministry has launched a special campaign for financial assistance under the Journalist Welfare Scheme.

Rajya Sabha passed a bill to declare 2 food technology institutes as national

On March 15, 2021, the Rajya Sabha approved a bill declaring two food technology institutes as national institutions in Kundali in Haryana and Thanjavur in Tamil Nadu.

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research Bill was introduced in the Lok Sabha

The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (Amendment) Bill 2021 was introduced in the Lok Sabha on March 15, 2021. Chemical and Fertilizer Minister DV Sadananda Gowda introduced the bill that amends the National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research 1998. The bill seeks to give the status of institutions of national importance to the existing six national pharmaceutical institutions located in Ahmedabad, Guwahati, Hajipur, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Rae Bareli. The purpose of this bill is to set up a council for these institutions and to rationalize their board of governors for better administration.

A bill to amend the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children) Act, 2015, which seeks to enhance the role of District Magistrate and Additional District Magistrate, was introduced in the Lok Sabha on March 15, 2021.
